Building Fitness Habits That Last All Year
Marion Brand
As January comes to a close, itβs a great time to think beyond the month and focus on what will help you feel strong and energized all year long.
The secret isnβt willpower β itβs habits that fit your lifestyle.
Women who maintain their fitness year after year usually:
-
Choose workouts they enjoy
-
Keep routines flexible (not rigid)
-
Accept that some weeks are lighter than others (that's OK)
-
Focus on progress, not perfection
This week, reflect on:
-
What type of movement do I enjoy most?
-
What feels realistic for my schedule?
-
How can I support my body instead of pushing it?
I wanted to try something new for my own fitness as I need to be re-inspired. Yes, I am a trainer and sometimes need a reset and kickstart too. I thought maybe I would get back into skipping, but find that is just too hard on my body now. Although I like to and can still skip, it's a tough workout and I think a bit jarring on my body at this age.
Fast forward, I started looking into rebounding as an option. Upon researching, I can't believe all the benefits of this type of exercise.
I just received my rebounder, not an expensive one ... best to try to see if it's an exercise that will stick. I bought a fold up one from Amazon and will let you know how it holds up. So far so good :)
Well to my surprise, I'm having a great time on this little trampoline and can't believe how fast the time goes by. I put on some inspiring music and dance / march pressing down into the rebounder which is low impact and gets my heart rate up. This is definately doable and super FUN!! I'm trying this for 30 days and will let you know my results.
